The lab is operated by West Virginia University through a cooperative research agreement with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Headquarters Office of Safety and Mission Assurance (OSMA - Code Q). Researchers are needed in the following areas of software engineering: metrics, safety & criticality, process, V&V, testing, OT&E, requirements engineering, and formal methods. Applicants are expected to hold the Ph.D. degree in computer science or a closely related field with some experience in one or more of these areas.
