      Research Director Positions - Bell Communications Research

  The Network Design and Security Research Department at Bellcore 
currently has openings for two Research Director positions.  One 
position is to head a group of researchers in security and cryptology 
research and the other position is to head a group of researchers in 
network design and optimization research.  We are seeking outstanding 
candidates in these areas with a proven track record of research 
accomplishments, broad knowledge of the areas represented by the 
department activities, good managerial skills, and the ability to
interface between the research area and the other business units.

  The department currently consists of over thirty researchers working 
mainly in the following broad areas:
 o  Security, including cryptography, computer and network security, 
    fraud detection and prevention, and applications to electronic 
    commerce;
 o  Network Design, including combinatorial and network optimization,
    traffic and performance analysis, and applications to broadband and
    wireless network.
  Work responsibilities include a broad range of activities from 
fundamental research to software prototyping to applied projects in 
support of the business units.
