               Research Associate - One Year Appointment
   University of South Australia, Advanced Computing Research Center

  The Advanced Computing Research Center is one of the University of
South Australia's nine newly-endowed research centers. 
  The Center is seeking to appoint a candidate to participate in the 
Distributed Object Recognition research project. This project is 
currently funded by a University Development Grant on a one year basis.
Future funding is possible depending on progress.   To participate in
this project the following qualification is desirable:
 o  higher degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in Computer Science or Electronic
    Engineering
 o  research or working experience in the area of image processing and
    computer vision
 o  sound knowledge of distributed systems and parallel processing
 o  basic understanding of real-time computing
 o  good programming skills and familiar with C, C++ and Unix
 o  knowledge of techniques for system performance evaluation 
 o  satisfactory publication record
 o  capacity and enthusiasm to work in a team
  Annual salary is A$34,602 to A$40,087 depending on experience.
