CALL FOR PARTICIPATION - IWTCS'96
IFIP TC6/WG6.1
9th International Workshop on Testing of Communicating Systems
(Formerly: International Workshop on Protocol Test Systems, IWPTS)
Darmstadt, Germany
September 9-11, 1996
Organized by
GMD - German National Research Center for Information Technology
Sponsored by
IFIP - International Federation for Information Processing
================================================================
SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES
--------------------
The aim of the workshop is to bring together researchers and
practitioners in the field of testing of communicating systems.
Over the years, the scope of the workshop has shifted from con-
formance testing of OSI protocols towards testing of communicat-
ing systems in general. To reflect this extension, the new
title "International Workshop on Testing of Communicating
Systems" has been chosen. Topics of interest to be discussed
include:
* Types of testing: Conformance testing - Interoperability
testing - Performance testing
* Phases of the testing process: Test case generation -
Realization of means of testing - Test execution - Analysis of
results
* Classes of systems to be tested: OSI protocols and services -
Internet protocols and services - Telecommunication networks -
ATM networks - Narrowband networks - ODP systems - Multimedia
systems
* Theory and practice of testing: Theoretical framework - Test-
related algorithms - Applications of theory - Practical
testing methodology - Practical testing experience

DARMSTADT
Darmstadt (140,000 inhabitants) lies in the Upper Rhine Plain,
30 km south of the financial center Frankfurt/Main (with inter-
national airport) and 60 km north of the old university town
Heidelberg. Darmstadt is a pleasant, very green town with a
reputation as a town of the arts and sciences. Darmstadt's
"Mathildenhoehe", the place of an artists' colony at the begin-
ning of this century, with its art-nouveau architecture, museum,
and exhibition hall is widely known and especially worth seeing.
