PACT97 CFP

PACT97
The Third International Conference on
The Practical Application of Constraint Technology
Wednesday 23rd April - Friday 25th April 1997, London, UK

Call for Papers

The PACT conference and exhibition is the premier forum for constraint
applications and systems. Now in its third year the conference builds on
the success of PACT95 and PACT96, and clearly demonstrates the benefits of
constraints for solving real-world problems. PACT97 will focus on the
growing industrial exploitation of Constraint Programming, and explore the
realisable benefits for business, and future trends for this important
technology.

Industry has been very quick to adopt the technology and apply it with
great success. Yet the pace of research in this area is dramatic, and new
ideas and techniques are continually emerging to further enhance the
potential of constraint technology. The time-lag between research,
development and industrial application is very short.

In consequence, PACT97 provides a good opportunity to appreciate the
breadth of applications of the technology, to share new developments in the
field and to find out how to exploit these developments in practice.

Call for Papers

We invite you to submit a paper or industrial report describing fielded
applications which exploit constraint technology. Papers can be of any
length, up to a maximum of twenty pages, and on virtually any constraint
related topic.

Since PACT97 focuses on the real-world benefits of constraint technology,
preference will be given to papers describing fielded applications,
especially in the business arena. Also of interest are descriptions of
advanced prototypes, tools and techniques, and general survey papers which
indicate the future direction this important technology will take.

PACT will form part of a five day Practical Application Expo which will
also include PAAM97-The Practical Application of Intelligent Agents and
Multi-agents, PAP97-The Practical Application of Prolog technology and the
introduction of a new conference PADD97-The Practical Application of
Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining. Please visit our Web page for further
information on Practical Application EXPO97.

Call for Demonstrations, Workshops and Tutorials

The conference also provides an opportunity for software vendors and
developers to demonstrate constraint systems. You are invited to contact
the organiser to arrange for your application to be exhibited at the event.
If you would like to organise a workshop or tutorial, or wish to see a
particular topic covered, please contact us.
