6th Barcelona Logic Meeting: Update and financial assistance



             THE SIXTH BARCELONA LOGIC MEETING

The Sixth Barcelona Logic Meeting will be held from Wednesday, July
5th to Saturday, July 8th, 2000 in Barcelona (note that in previous
announcements the dates were 6 to 8). The meeting will be devoted to
all areas of Mathematical Logic, with an emphasis in Algebraic Logic,
Model Theory and Set Theory. The scientific program will consist of
several one-hour invited lectures and a number of twenty-minute
contributed talks.

The 6th BLM is financially supported by the European Union in its
"Euroconferences" series and administratively sukpported by the Centre de
Recerca Matematica of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans. We are also
expecting financial support from several Catalan universities and Catalan
and Spanish funding agencies. 

The 6th BLM has been recognized as a satellite conference of the 
3rd European Congress of Mathematics, to be held in Barcelona, 
July 10-14, 2000 under the auspices of the European Mathematical 
Society.

CONTRIBUTED PAPERS

Those wishing to attend the meeting and present short communications 
are invited to submit a one-page abstract to the Scientific Committee
by sending a LaTeX file to the e-mail address <6blm@crm.es>. Authors
without access to e-mail can send two printed copies to the following
address:

The deadline for submission of contributed papers is April 1st, 2000. 
Acceptance will be communicated to authors before April 30.

REGISTRATION

The registration fee for regular participants will be 65 Euros or 11.000
ptas. A reduced fee of 30 Euros or 5.000 ptas. is offered to students,
and to accompanying persons wanting to attend the closing banquet.
Cancellations before June 2nd will be refunded 50% of the paid fee; no
refunds will be made after that date.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

European Union funding of the meeting allows us to offer some
financial support for young researchers, up to 35 years old, who are
nationals from EU member states or associated states. The deadline for
applications is April 1, 2000. All applicants will receive an answer
before April 30, 2000.

For information about the 3rd European Congress of Mathematics,

privilege of the satellite conferences of the 3ECM, all registered
participants in the 6th BLM will be entitled to register in the 3ECM 
at a reduced fee even after April 2000.
