<<UML>>2000: Preliminary Call For Participation
[apologies if you receive multiple copies of this announcement]
=================================================================
Call for Participation
<<UML>>2000
Third International Conference on the
Unified Modeling Language
"Advancing the Standard"
October 2-6, 2000
Royal York Hotel
York, UK
http://www.cs.york.ac.uk/uml2000
The Unified Modeling Language (UML) has rapidly become the
"lingua-franca" of the software design community, both in industry
and academia. The <<UML>> series of conferences has grown to be the
premier venue for exchange of innovative technical ideas and experiences
relating to UML. The conference includes, among its active
participants, the originators of UML and other key individuals
involved in the definition and evolution of the standard.
<<UML>>2000 takes place just as work on the next version of UML (2.0)
begins and will have a strong bearing on the standard.
Highlights of the programme include:
- Invited talks from Steve Cook, Ivar Jacobsen and Cris Kobryn
- A quality technical programme of tutorials, workshops, papers and panels,
covering the development and application of UML and its possible
supercedants. Topics include:
- design of concurrent, distributed and real-time applications
- modeling web applications; modeling human-computer interaction
- executable UML; modeling vs. extreme programming; advanced tools
- component-based and product line engineering
- rearchitecting and improving UML; formal semantics; UML 2.0
Venue:
The City of York is world famous for its historic
buildings and tourist attractions. It is located at the heart of
Yorkshire, one of the most scenic counties of England. York is
easily accessed by train, bus and car. There is a direct train
from Manchester Airport every hour, and frequent high-speed
connections to London and the North.
The Royal York Hotel is a luxury Victorian 4* hotel in the
centre of the city, with its own fitness centre and indoor
swimming pool. The conference will be held in a brand new
conference centre adjoining the hotel.
The conference banquet will be held amongst the exhibits in the
world-renowned National Railway Museum, which traces the
history of the age of steam and houses some of the most famous
locomotives of that era. Exhibits include Stephenson's Rocket and
the record-breaking Mallard. The railway museum is a few minutes
walk from the hotel.
Registration:
Register early to take full advantage of discounts. Additional
discounts are available to IEEE and ACM members.
